Coalescent Cyclone Separators 

Amazing Performance 

Kelburn coalescent cyclone separators are highly efficient as it could remove all particles or moisture droplets down to 10 microns in size. For 5 – 10 microns in size particles, it can separate with 80 – 90% efficiencies. This means that the separator operates with overall extraction efficiencies of more than 99.5%. It also generates a very low pressure drop, less than 1% of the system operating pressure. Moreover, if steam entering the separator is 0.9 / 0.95 dry, steam leaving the separator will be 0.998 dry. 

How it operates? 

Our cyclone separators adopted a two stage separation design whereby during the first stage it agglomerates the fine water particles causing them to coalesce by bringing the droplets together, increasing in size & mass. In the second stage, it utilises profiled deflector blading, which imparts powerful centrifugal forces to separate all the liquid droplets from the steam / gas / air flow. The condensate / liquid then exits the separator from a volute-contoured drain. As such, re-entrainment of the separated liquid is avoided.

 Knockout Cyclone Separators

Kelburn knockout cyclone separators are highly efficient, flow driven separators that remove 99% of all droplets down to 15 micron in size. It also generates a very low pressure drop, less than 1% of the system operating pressure. In steam separation, it gives a typical steam dryness fraction of over 0.995 at outlet from 0.90 dry inlet steam, achieving extraction efficiencies of more than 99.5%.

Moreover, the separator can separates pipe scale, swarf and other solid debris down to 15 microns in size. It also can separate and disperse the liquid slugs, boiler prime and other streams.

How it operates?

When slugs or streams of liquids, pipe scale and other debris enter the separator with the steam / gas flow, it hits the coned deflector vane section which is designed to withstand the large impact loadings. The flow will then spilt into several streams and enters a vortex chamber tangentially from the deflector vanes and is subjected to a powerful centrifugal action. The water / liquid and solid particles are forced to the cyclone walls and leave the unit via the large area drain. Dry steam (in steam separation) or air / gas (in air / steam separation) exits from the separator outlet. The large bore drain and pipe reservoir provide rapid liquid removal and high capacity storage during a large carryover event.
